We are currently looking for a Senior Day Wellsite Geologist to support offshore drilling operations in Azerbaijan.
The Senior Day Wellsite Geologist will act as the geosciences representative on the offshore drilling site and will be responsible for geological operations activities on the rig.
The role will focus on geological monitoring, real-time drilling hazard identification, data quality control, contractor supervision, and reporting, in close coordination with drilling, subsurface, and operations teams.
Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinate and execute geological monitoring activities, including ditch cuttings analysis, hydrocarbon show evaluation, and supervision of electrical logging operations
• Ensure compliance with wellsite procedures and standards for Mud Logging, Wireline, and LWD data acquisition
• Maintain accountability for the quality and integrity of geoscience data collected at the drilling site
• Validate and ensure reliable transmission of data from the rig site to the base
• Perform on-site quick-look log interpretations
• Identify and interpret pore pressure and drilling hazards in real time
• Supervise service companies and conduct quality audits for Mud Logging, Wireline, and LWD contractors
• Coordinate communication between Mud Logging, Wireline, LWD teams, and drilling crews
• Oversee the mobilization, setup, and reception of personnel and equipment
• Contribute to contractor performance evaluations covering HSE, operational efficiency, timing, equipment failures, and non-productive time
• Validate Mud Logging, Wireline, and LWD job tickets
• Support the definition of logging programs, interval selection, and total depth for casing points
• Participate in daily rig site meetings and provide geoscience input to improve drilling safety and efficiency
• Prepare wellsite logs, composite logs, geological reports, final well reports, and post-drilling evaluations
• Mentor Junior Wellsite Geologists and support the training of new Wellsite Geologists
• Minimum 5 years of experience in wellsite geology
• Proven experience in deep offshore operations is required
• Previous exposure to offshore Azerbaijan environments would be preferred
• Strong knowledge of Mud Logging, Wireline, and LWD operations
• Ability to identify and interpret drilling hazards in real time
• Experience supervising service companies and conducting quality audits
• Good communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary offshore teams
• Gravitas software user
• Valid Subsurface Geology for Operation Geologists and Well Site Geologists IFP Training Certificate
• Valid medical certificate fit for offshore
• Valid BOSIET + CA-EBS certificates
• Fluent English is mandatory
• Location: Baku, Azerbaijan / Offshore
• Working schedule: Rotation 4×4
• Start date: 1 October 2026
